Don't delay if you plan to spend the funds on your card

Some vendors and financial institutions may take a few days to process transactions made with your salary packaging card, so we recommend you don’t wait until the last minute to spend your balance but allow time for all transactions to be processed by Monday 31 March 2025.

If you have any unspent funds remaining on your card at midnight 31 March, you will not lose this money. The balance will roll over, and you can spend in the new FBT year, which begins on Tuesday 1 April 2025. However, these funds will reduce your annual cap for the new FBT year by the same amount.

Please note: We will stop payments to your salary packaging card one pay early to give you more time to spend your card balance.

Or there's an easy way to use your remaining card funds – the FBT Card

The FBT card is a single load prepaid Mastercard® issued by payment solution provider EML (they are the current issuer of your Salary Packaging Card).

It costs $9.94 and you can add up to $2,000 from your salary packaging card balance. If you have more than $2,000 remaining, you can purchase multiple cards.

The card is valid for 13 months and can be used in the same way as your salary packaging card.

If you have a balance on your card after your final pay of the FBT year, we’ll email you with details of how to purchase the FBT card, and if you'd like to view answers to frequently asked questions, click here.

Please note: The FBT Card is not available for NSW Health employees.

Claiming your salary packaging balance

All claims for balances currently in salary packaging accounts must be received two weeks prior to your last pay in the FBT year, to ensure they're processed before the end of the FBT year. Claims received after this date may not be processed before this time.
